Top tips to have a great newsletter.

  • Make it interesting the more fun articles you can have the better no one likes boring ,boring is news about your industry.
  • Have articles that will keep their attention, like recipes
  • Word puzzles are great to make them hold on to the newsletter longer
  • Articles like what happened in the month of throughout history.
  • Weird and crazy holidays. Like its ice cream day, it’s not my fault day
  • A thank you section for the customers who have referred you (everyone loves to see their name in print)
  • Small section that you talk about what’s going on with your family, or your pet, this builds relationships.
  • Report stories

Things that will alienate your customers.

  • Boring articles about your industry
  • Putting a sales special in the format of the newsletter. The newsletter is being used to build a relationship with the customer and they see it as pushy. The way to get around this and run a sale and have it be perfectly acceptable is to have the sale printed as its own page as an insert. Trust me it makes a difference.

Tricks to get a 100% Open rate:

  • Never put it in an envelope
  • Have it folded in half or thirds and tabbed and mailed that way it is basically open when it arrives?
  • The lay out should be so when it come in the mail they know exactly who its from.
  • Consistency the newsletter should be delivered that same time every month for optimum relationship building and new or repeat business.
